ABOUT US
Sitting on the banks of the Merrimack River in historic Newburyport (birthplace of the United States Coast Guard) with its views of the Atlantic Ocean beyond, Michael's Harborside began its storied past in the 17th century as a commercial fishing wharf and warehouse.

With visits form ships and people (some would say characters) from around the world much has been viewed, talked about and witnessed. Since that time, One Tournament Wharf has continued to change and evolve through many incarnations. Starting with a fishing wharf, it became a mercantile center, an eel farm and then a major export for tuna heading to market in far off Japan.

This scenic location saw its first use as a restaurant in the early 1970s as an Irish Pub, "The Boomkin". Gradually expanding through the years with the additions of decks, dining rooms, and kitchens, it has become the landmark restaurant of present day.

Just as our restaurant is a product of its colorful history so is the menu you see today, influenced by the traditions of the past and inspired by tastes from around the world.
